The Astarte Art Gallery: The Basis for Good Start

The Astarte Art Gallery was founded in 1994. Its main aim was in consolidating the contemporary artists and serve as a basis for a further development of the young creators. In 2006 it moved to another building aiming at ranking the top place among the competing contemporary galleries. It deserved many precious academic essays taking part in different fairs and fests like: ArteBa (Buenos Aires), Artissima (Turín), Arte Santander and Photo España festival.

The official site of this Madrid gallery manifests that: “The priorities of the gallery are painting and sculpture, but it also shows interest in modern art media like video and installation Participation in international contemporary art fairs is also among the priorities of Astarte.” As for the participants they are mainly presented by local masters of art: Manuel Vilchez , Rosa Munoz, Roberto Diez and Vicky Herreros. The current exposition is presented by the works of Maria Aranguren and goes under the title Cellular .

It is called so as the polycarbonate cellular served as a material for the works. The artist spent almost two years creating and discovering the fascinating material features. This unique collection incorporates a pure esthetics and hidden tenderness, the paradox forms and the energy of color. The form prevails under the content which enables the author to approach to the spectator and play with his sensitivity.
